Week 1

1.What is spatial experience?

- multi-sensorial experience in a space

- emotional connection with space

- like in a 5D cinema, water splashes make you relate to the movie scene more


2.Why spatial experience?

- makes people want to stay and spend time

- good for user and business


3.How's its good for business?

- strong brand recognition

- brands create experience

- emotional binding with users

- long time value


4.Project 1: user research (20%)

- research about fashion

- research metaverse

- research how designers bring out emotions from customers in fashion show

- mind-mapping and infographic

E-portfolio

- create a different category for every subject

- include sketches

- problems faced and improvement



Week 2

1.Creativity
- something that inspire people
- when two different things are combined together beautifully and meaningful, it is creativity
- fine art focus on expression
- commercial art focus on letting people understand the message directly
- both negative space and positive space are important
- toning creates depth

2.Class exercise(group): 
- Find an unused and hidden place that nobody has really been to.
- Design the space to attract people and make it useful.

3. Change of group user research

- Research about education

- Research about study space



Week 3

1. Elements of design

- Conceptual elements: points, lines, plane, volume

- Visual elements: shape, size, colour, texture

- Relational elements: Direction, position, space, gravity

2. Point:

- small and simple shape

- can use it to create a line

3. Line:

- combinations of points with direction

- line conveys the feeling of thinness

- different types of lines

- diagonal, arc, spiral, helix lines create movements

- free curve creates motions

- line of action

- different thickness creates movements

4. Plane:

- length and width, no thickness

- planar forms: geometric

- organic, rectilinear, irregular


5.Class exercise:

Take photo of point elements in school

 

Project 1: Study Space research(individual)

- decide users
