Assignment 01: Interactive Media Design for Responsive Space

Process

I first started with finding the building I wanted to use. I have done a little bit of research on Sesc Pompeia before, and I really like Lina Bo Bardi, the architect who redesign this building. So, I decided to use this building for the following assignment. Since I have done research before, and I also continue to do more research, I understand what the building is about, and what kind of influence it brings. I want to incorporate the culture and the human activities in the building with the content I wanted to create. 

My idea is about a whole exhibition, which consist of different activities like projection mapping, interaction with hologram, AR mirror and etc. The main concept I have is to inspire children for their future. Sesc Pompeia itself is a very inspiring and full of life structure. I want to use it as the foundation of the whole exhibition. I do more research on the newest and advance technologies nowadays to inspire myself on what I can use to convey my messages. Since my target audience is children, the activities must be fun and interactive, easy to understand for them. 

After I have my ideas for the exhibition, I compile it and focus on my projection mapping content. I think of what I can present to children for them to get inspire and at the same time, it should be interesting and straightforward for them to understand. Children loves cartoons, so an animation would be good idea. I then focus on thinking the content of the animation. It should start with Sesc Pompeia. 

I start the content from the history of Sesc Pompeia, how it was built and what was its purpose, how it changed as the time goes by. Then, we move to the present time. I add in family elements, as family are usually connected and the focal point of a child. The content mainly focusses on the children, who brought by their family to Sesc Pompeia for different reasons. They then get inspired by the different activities inside the building and they start to think of their future. Finally, all the children get the satisfaction and confidence on their future, and they are ready to chase their dream with a smile.

Reflection

In this assignment, I learned a lot about the technologies nowadays as I do a lot of research. I get really inspired and amazed by it. Throughout the whole assignments, I din't really face much challenges, but I get really excited by it. This is what I wanted to do, to use my creativity, to provide ideas to a project which can help or inspire peoples. I hope I can do something like this, to influence people by using creativity.

Reflecting on this journey, I feel accomplish and exciting, it also inspires me on my future work. The process of transforming a cold building into a platform for inspiring young minds has been both challenging and rewarding. This experience has reinforced the importance of creativity, research, and empathy in creating impactful and meaningful content. In my idea, I hope to ignite the spark of curiosity and ambition in children, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their passions with confidence by using this exhibition. Of course I don't have a chance to realize it, but it this idea will always serve as an inspiration for me in my future.
