Exercise 1: Web Analysis

Exercise Brief

We have to write a report about analyzing two website design in terms of its design, layout, content, and functionality, strength and weaknesses. Lecturer had given us several websites from 3 platform to choose from. I choose two fashion-related websites as I wanted to compare two websites that have similar goals and messages that they want to deliver, this helps me to observe their different approaches and uniquity better.

Chrono 

The purpose and goals of the website is to show the concept and ideas of fashion design. But it lacks some details like the storytelling of design, and it feels more like a 3D arts and design portfolio. It is very high quality; it just lacks clarity and accuracy. 

The impressive design of the website suits their concept very well, but the layout gets a little bit messy or confusing as there are a lot of elements in a whole page, I can't find the focus point easily. I really like the colour and ambience. The website feels alive with the beating sound, it's like the whole website is alive and it is trying to get in touch with us. This makes the whole user experience really touching and unique. Users get to choose whether they want the audio on or not. 

The typography perfectly shown the futuristic vibe it wants. The motion typography grabs attention and leads us to read. The image is very clear and give the cyberpunk or futuristic effect with its editing. Not much content but it does serve its purpose and function well. They give clear instruction, so it is pretty easy to navigate through the website. 

The garments are interactive as it moves along with the mouse. This creates a fun experience and allow user to view the garments in a more complete and 3D perspective. They added cool switching transition between the garments and materials, it's like particles dissolving and new garment is formed little by little with particles.

The load times is quite fast. The button and features respond fast with each click. In the phone version, the layout is modified, looks similar and have the same function, but it is slower, the flow is not as smooth as the desktop version.  

NeoCultural Couture

This website has a similar purpose and goals as Chrono, they even have similar vibe. From my observation, the purpose of this website should be presenting the cultural arts and fashion design, promote different culture aesthetic. It is amazing to see the way they blend and combine different cultural elements. The design is really impressive, and the layout is a lot neater, I don't feel confused and hard to find the focus point. It is not hard to find the content I want too. The typography is very unique, the imagery and motion graphic are the main points here as it is so well-done and beautiful. Every graphics spark curiosity and imagination. 

They have much more content and it is very well-presented. I am very fascinated by the motion graphic they added while presenting their fashion design, like the characters flow up from the beautiful scene, it feels like an introduction of movie characters. Thus, I really think that this website design has a greater quality. The navigation is very simple too, the flow is smooth.

The interactive elements in this website should be the way the background and 3D move as the mouse moves. User can also control the movements of the product sliding or flow up like the screenshots I took below. This provides a very interactive and engaging user experience. 

They added a very calming natural ambience sound to it, and this created such a serene vibe, I feels like I am in another world and feel so peaceful. It gives a sense of dramatic feeling too. The load times is quite fast; it is very responsive. The phone version of it is not developed well and adjusted according to it. The words get cramped together and some of the interactive elements is not really applicable here.
